My human has only one twos, one twos (twos) legs, doesn't think like us and he has been called weirds. I like that in a familys man. He is stubborns like me. He likes his beer dark. He could be called an Eclectic Peeps. Most of all, he loves me and I like that. DeltaBunny will journal our lives togethers in the small Delta town of Rio Vista, California.

HAPPY ORANGE OVAL DAY!!

My dad received this link in the mail, How To Carve A Pumpkin. Be careful. It can get messy! AND scary. I did warn you! As Cal's uncle M might say, 'Arf, Arf, Arf. Woof. Woof!! Ruff!'

Hope everyone, canine and human, okay..felines, too...okay..ALL pets.. has a great
ORANGE OVAL DAY.

BASS FESTIVAL PARADE/RARE UNICORN

Two weeks ago our little community had an extra 25,000 humans or so millin' around the streets over a three day period. They were here for the Rio Vista Bass Festival. Dad stole borrowed my spy camera and took a bunch of photos so I could see what I was missin'. A real sadist he is. I didn't get to go because of the many horses in the parade and food being sold along the street. Those Euro-dogs have all the fun. Dad said that he saw one dog.

Where are the spots? Aren't fire dogs suppose
to have spots?
Posted by Picasa

Not fair! Not fair! But I guess he comes with the truck.

Some other dogs started to run amuck on the midway, were caught and had to stay in a big netted area. Arf! Arf!

Bad dog, bad dog, what's ya goin' to do?

And of course there was the midway and all the rides.

Where is Mr. Beuller? Anyone? Anyone?

Vendor Lane

Yummy?

Mom and Dad were real lucky. They got to see a real live unicorn but no Irish Rovers.

No Lady G.Posted by Picasa

There were a lot of neat lookin' horses and wagons.

And there were lots of Shiners, Dad said.

They do a lot of nice things for human puppies.

Where are Burt and Ernie?Posted by Picasa

A big duck blind blind duck. Guess it is huntin' season. Awfully hard to miss that one.

Then there were fireworks. Dad took me in my little green machine (golf cart)to a special place where we could watch the pretty lights and the booms weren't too loud for me.

That's it?

Pretty lights. That's more like it.

On the way home from the light show we saw a huge walkin' tanker truck or something like that. It reminded me of when Dad and I listen to his tape of The War of the Worlds.

Take me to your leader.

As we continued on home I was lookin' for one of my fav spots.....

Ahhhh...

Even though the human-made light show was neato I still think Ma Nature does the best.

Mother Nature is the expert.

And of course, there was the fishing part.

Bet the cats would like this festival!

Partial sturgeon. Heard somethin' about caviar.

Stripper Striper

Dad didn't get very good pics of the fish. I wasn't there to tell him about the glare from the sky, the reflections of the humans, etc, etc. He should have taken me along!

INDY'S CHATROOM/THAT EXTRA HOUR

A little while ago I finished a great typersation with Indy in his Bark Chatroom! Check it out. Dad helped me. He's got to type faster if he wants to carry on a typersation on the web. I just sat there and Arfed and Arfed! It was sooo funny.

Dad tol -Whew! I just frightened myself passin' gas!-(Not the typist.) Thought somethin' was after me. Dad told me that early tomorrow mornin' we add an hour to tomorrow. He tried to explain but I never did understand his story. So all day I've been thinkin' about how to spend that extra hour. Maybe I can finish my Bass Festival bark or start the.......

What to do? What to do? Hmmmm... An.. extraaa.. hhh....Posted by Picasa

After thinkin' about it all day, I've decided on the best way to spend that extra hour is to....

Ahhhh......

BLOG DOG CALENDAR FUNDRAISER

Indy and I are trying to put together a fundraisin' calendar featuring our bloggin' dog friends. Indy has created a poll on his blog, A Husky's Life, so we can vote for which organization will receive the proceeds. (Human Society, ASPCA, and Best Friends Animal Society) (Just found out that you need to use Internet Explorer to see the poll. I use Firefox and couldn't see it. Went to IE and no problem.) Indy's mom is checkin' out how we go about puttin' the calendar together. Please visit Indy's blog, and of course mine, for more information in the near future. It would be great to see all our pretty/handsome faces on a calendar hangin' on the wall next to our beds and at the same time help some of our less fortunate friends.

Indy has a great idea and suggests that you bloggin' felines create your own cat calendar. I second the idea. Let's go!

FREAKY FRIDAY

Yesterday, when Dad and I were down at Watson Hollow, we saw a bunch of birds on the fence. This started Dad ramblin' about a Bogeda Bay, a Sir Alfred, a Tippi and a bunch of birds. He was freakin' me out!

I asked, "You lookin' at me? You lookin' at me?"
Come on Dad. Let's get out of here!

BLOG DOG CALENDAR

Why I am up so late I don't know. I was vistin' some friends on line (Dog, it takes a long time. I've got to get a better system. Can't visit them all in one night.) and saw Pimm's great portrait at Pimm's Blog. With all these beautiful and handsome canines out there I think we should all get together and publish a Blog Dog calendar. What do you bark? Anydog know a publisher? Could raise some money for our less fortunate buddies. Would make great gifts.

Good night.

SEND HOWLIN'WEEN CARDS FROM HSUS

Just received a note from the U.S. Humane Society. Here is the link to send Halloween cards to your canine buddies and their humans.(HSUS eCards) Pretty coool! RUFF! RUFF!!

SMARTER THAN THE AVERAGE WOLF! RUFF! RUFF!

Why your dog is(WE ARE) smarter than a wolf | csmonitor.com: "Dogs are 'very motivated to cooperate with and behave like people,' says Csanyi. 'That's why dogs can do things no other animal can do.'"

I got this in my dogmail today. It sounds true to me, but I always thought it was the human that was motivated to be like us. Don't they have it backwards? Please have your human read this to you and it will make you feel really really good and reconfirm what we have known all along. Arf! Arf!

CLUSTY V. GOOGLE/HAPPY B-DAY EMAIL/MAYBE GROKKER

I am working on a woof that has a lot of photos in it. So I have decided to push this bone up in my schedule.

Everyday my secretary reads an article about 'Google' to me. 'Google' this, 'Google' that. Hey, I use Google Earth to find the toys I've misplaced. We both use some of Google's services. (Can't wait for their calendar!) But for searchin' the web we use Clusty the Clustering Engine. Google is used only as a backup.

Clusty gives you 'clusters' of relevant information and you get to select the topics much closer to the subject your lookin' for. It even gives you the search engines it resourced and a link to each. Google gives you the most popular searches or clicks. We don't want the most popular we want the most relevant. I certainly don't want to paw through 54,973, or 1,673,962 or 8,452,195 pages of info to find what I am lookin' for. So give Clusty a try. You might like it.

I found this little bit of info and since my secretary uses email a lot I thought he might like to know that email just turned 34. Paw on this link Official Google Blog: Guess what just turned 34? to learn a bit more about the beginning of email. But be forewarned, it is from the Google Blog and talks about Gmail.

Yes, Google is everywhere, but I'm like my dad. I am a
contrarian. Give the other dog a break. Anyway, Clusty was picked as one of the coooolest websites. (TIME names Clusty one of 2005's "50 Coolest Websites"). You may also want to check out Grokker (From Yahoo) for a different slant on a search. Kinda like Clusty but using 'graphics' to show their clustered search results. The big dogs shouldn't get it all.

TULE AND HER 'BE KIND' COLLAR AND DOGALIZED STAMPS

Tule is here and I gave her the 'BE KIND' collar.

Pretty cooool!

If you haven't already ordered a collar for yourself go to The Humane Society of the United States and check it out. There are articles about that bad dog flu and other important things we need to let our humans know about. If you want to surprise your human and get them a 'BE KIND' bracelet go to Be Kind. (Can also get collars there.)

The picture of Tule looks a lot like the stamps I got Tule from PhotoStamps. (Mom and Dad 'hepped' me order them.)

Another 'Pretty coool!'

Now I want some stamps with 'Yours Truly' on them. That would be waaay cooool!

So now you have some neato ideas for gifts for yourself and your humans. Just in time for Big Orange Orb Day, Gooble Day and that holiday no one knows what to call anymore.

20 October 2005

IT'S HERE!

Yippee! ARF!! ARF!!! My 'Be Kind' collar arrived today. I may be the first one around here to have one. Wore it tonight on my walk but I didn't see anyone. I wanted to tell them all about 'Be Kind'.

Pretty cooool!Posted by Picasa

Tule will be here tomorrow and she will get her 'Be Kind' collar. Woof! Woof!

EMERGENCY RADIO BLUES/BLOGGER

We're waitin' for Mom's return from Chico. Dad's trying to paint. Arf! And I'm just groovin'. Here we are listenin' to the Blues Party at KXJZ out of Sacramento on our new Grundig wind up noise box. In case we have an emergency we can listen to the blues or Beatles or Stones or Kinks or The Inmates. Dad says the noise box is suppose to be available durin' an emergency so we know where to go for free wine tastin'. Me thinks he is joshing me.

Hearin' the blues and waitin' for Mom. Posted by Picasa

The Blues Party began to play some of Cream's new album when Dad ran into the house. What the... He had to turn on the stereo and crank up the noise. Then he had to tell me the story of when he and Mom went to a polo game and afterwards watched Ginger Baker jam with some other noise makers. Hey Dad. He's right hear in the noise box.

The new 'service' by Blogger that allows me to send my photos to DeltaBunny without goin' through Hello still does not address the problem of NOT publishin' the sent photos right away. When my secretary sends a photo to my blog usin' the new 'Blog This' button, it is still published. Just like Hello. Well, I don't want it published yet. I want it to go to my edit page so I can EDIT the page before publishin'. Why can't they just send it to the Edit page? That would save a lot of steps and secretarial yellin'. If he uses the Photo icon on the Edit page he still has to go to Picasa, edit the photo, Save As..., go back to the Blogger edit page, hit the Photo icon, then the Browse button, look up the right photo, then upload, etc. What a pain. There has got to be a better way. Arrggh!

I'm tired. Time for Dreamsville.

RIO VISTA BASS FESTIVAL/TRAVIS AIRSHOW

This weekend there are two excitin' goings on in our area, but Mom is in Chico with the movin' box so Dad and I are home 'alone'. Stranded. On the fringe. Excluded. Hmph!!

The first is the
Rio Vista Bass Festival, just one two, one two (My cartographer says three) miles down the road. It starts today. The second is the Travis Air Expo 2005, one two, one two ( The cart guy, again, says 20) miles up the road. That begins in one two, one two (1) day. Mom will be back in one two, one two (1 1/2) days. So in one two, one two (2) days she and Dad get to go to a big white tent and eat really good food and drink all kinds of grape water. THEY BETTER COME HOME WITH A REALLY BIG DOGGIE BAG. Wonder what that grape water tastes like? They will also get to see, AND SMELL, the big fishies caught by humans in boats.

I am not allowed at the big old (classic) moving box (car) show because I MIGHT pee on a classic rubber thing and I'm not allowed in the vendors' area because food is served there. Hey, when you gotta pee you gotta pee and what's wrong with food. I like food. I think those EU dogs have it better than we do in many cases. As for the big bird show, I might get to see some of them if they make wide turns and fly over my house.

Last week my humans were pretty busy. Besides runnin' to my every beckon and call, Mom was in St. Louis workin' for a while, Dad had a hot stone massage (Mom got one this week) and they went to the AMEX World Championship golf tournament. They got to see all those people we see on the magic box. On the way home Mom and Dad were drivin' over a big orange bridge and saw four blue and yellow big birds. They were very fast and loud. Mom said they were in San Francisco for Fleet Week.

So now we are home alone. I, catchin' up on my dreams and Dad makin' like an art type human. ARF! ARF! (Ha, ha!) Well, we will listen to more old time radio CDs and enjoy our time together. Let me bark you. I can tell my cartographer is bored. He is listenin' to ♫ Indian Radio Stations Online ♫ Bollywood, Hindi, Desi Music Online Radio Channels while he is typin' this for me. It reminds him of the Bollywood movie adverts he would see when at the cinema in Kano, Nigeria. Long ago when his family lived there. He says that is an entirely different blog someday. Actually, the music isn't that bad. Dad says I should listen and appreciate other cultures. I like yogurt. Does that count? And the Beatles are British. So there!

Dad, aren't you hungry yet? And I've got to visit my blog friends later. Come!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN/RINGO'S 'CHOOSE LOVE'

I have acquiesced and given part of today's posting to my secretary.

Sixty-five years ago the past, present and future of music was born in the person of John Winston Lennon. Happy Birthday.
Bagism began and continues in the hearts of those who care for their fellow humans.

Dad finally heard (Many months after its release.) some of Ringo's new album Choose Love, review by alan haber (CD for those who missed out) yesterday on the 'Blues Party' on KXJZ. From the three songs he heard, he said there were shades of Revolver, Magical Mystery Tour, The Beatles (White Album), a little of the Traveling Wilburys and a bit of George. So of course we have been listening to lots of the boys' songs and some cover bands. Last year he and Tule's dad saw The Sun Kings - Beatles with an A...plus!

For some Italian flavor you can listen to some samples from "Taxman" Beatles Cover Band di Reggio Calabria and The AppLE PIES'Sound.

Then there are
The Bootleg Beatles - The most successful and longest running Beatles Tribute Show. And for a list of other cover bands see 'Links' at Nowhere Men Homepage - The Italian Beatles Tribute Band. And of course the real thing at Online Classic rock Radio Station - Live365 Internet Radio - BEATLES-A-RAMA!!!.

I don't know what the big deal is. I like the The Voles
The Rutles - Wikipedia.

Dad says 'Try them. You'll like them'.

GOODBYE SAMMY. MISS YOU

Tonight I learned that Sam the beautiful all-black German Shepherd Dog has passed away. I and my human are very sad. I feel very sad for his wonderful human, Cynthia, too. Sammy was a wonderful blog friend and I will miss him.

All I can say is the comment I left on his blog-

We are goin' to miss you big guy. You will always be an inspiration to us all. You showed us how to live life to the fullest.

Your Cynthia has been an inspiration to my human and others. (His eyes are kinda watery now.) He hopes he has the same love and strength she has had ever since you entered her life....

I am very glad I got to read your blog. I learned a lot and know I found a friend.

I know somewhere, sometime a very handsome GSD puppy is goin' to appear and he will be a runner. He will run and run. And a lucky human is going to look into its eyes and say, 'Hello... Sammy. Yes. Sammy. Would you like to go and chase some cats?'

Miss you.

Whimper...

ANOTHER STORY/ALMONDS AND ART (And Raider)

Mom and Dad went to an art competition in Vacaville yesterday.

Vacaville Art Festival-'Art in the Park' Posted by Picasa
That's where they saw the adorable Raider.

The path that took them to Vacaville started many months ago. Mom found a place on the web where a human can lease an almond tree, Avellar Farm - Lease an Almond Tree for the 2006 Harvest. Boing!! What a great gift idea. So Mom called the Avellar Farm and leased several almond trees for birthday gifts. While keeping in touch with the owners Tony and Jacqueline, my humans were invited up to whack their leased trees with big mallet to help harvest the nuts. (Didn't know my typist used to live in an almond tree.)

Three foot mallet Posted by Picasa

Unfortunately, Mom was working during harvest time but was invited up later to visit the farm. So Mom and Dad went up this past week.

Lots of trees to mark! Posted by Picasa

Still holding tight after the harvest. Posted by Picasa

They had a wonderful tour of the almond orchard and learned a lot about almonds from Tony. Then they were treated to a very good glass of wine and great conversation. They had a great time.

One of 'our' leased trees. Yes, they are labeled. Posted by Picasa

On the way back they stopped in Winters, CA. (
Winters Chamber of Commerce) A small artsy town, so my humans say. While walking around they noticed a flyer about a plein air painting contest in Vacaville on Saturday. (Vacaville Art Event)
So off they went yesterday and got to see Raider.

The highlight of their trip! (So I bark!)

RAIDER

This is Raider.

What a cutie! Posted by Picasa

He looks like he could be my son. He is soooo handsome.

Mom and Dad were in Vacaville (Another story) and saw this cute puppy guiding his humans up a hill. Mom* asked if they could take his picture. Raider's humans happily gave their approval and click. Here he is. I can't get over how handsome he is. Black and tan, just like me.

Guess who? Posted by Picasa

*You noticed that Mom asked for the photo op. Hmmmm...Is there a hidden meanin' in there somewhere? I haven't noticed any extra beds, toys, treats...

Many thanks to Raider's humans for letting Mom and Dad catch a real Raider.
