Mom and Dad went to an art competition in Vacaville yesterday.
Vacaville Art Festival-'Art in the Park'
That's where they saw the adorable Raider.
The path that took them to Vacaville started many months ago. Mom found a place on the web where a human can lease an almond tree, Avellar Farm - Lease an Almond Tree for the 2006 Harvest. Boing!! What a great gift idea. So Mom called the Avellar Farm and leased several almond trees for birthday gifts. While keeping in touch with the owners Tony and Jacqueline, my humans were invited up to whack their leased trees with big mallet to help harvest the nuts. (Didn't know my typist used to live in an almond tree.)
Three foot mallet
Unfortunately, Mom was working during harvest time but was invited up later to visit the farm. So Mom and Dad went up this past week.
Lots of trees to mark!
Still holding tight after the harvest.
They had a wonderful tour of the almond orchard and learned a lot about almonds from Tony. Then they were treated to a very good glass of wine and great conversation. They had a great time.
One of 'our' leased trees. Yes, they are labeled.
On the way back they stopped in Winters, CA. ( Winters Chamber of Commerce) A small artsy town, so my humans say. While walking around they noticed a flyer about a plein air painting contest in Vacaville on Saturday. (Vacaville Art Event)
So off they went yesterday and got to see Raider.
The highlight of their trip! (So I bark!)
