My human has only one twos, one twos (twos) legs, doesn't think like us and he has been called weirds. I like that in a familys man. He is stubborns like me. He likes his beer dark. He could be called an Eclectic Peeps. Most of all, he loves me and I like that. DeltaBunny will journal our lives togethers in the small Delta town of Rio Vista, California.

PARADE/THANKS/WHY THE FOURTH?/HISTORY LESSON

Today there was a golf cart parade around the community. As usual, we spent more time waiting for the carts than viewing them.

Where are they? Posted by Picasa

Again, my typist wants to thank everyone here and in the rest of the United States of America* for celebrating the second anniversary of his retirement. Parades, fireworks, barbies and even taking the day off. Why such importance be put on the fourth of July for just one man, he can not understand. He believes the colonies' declaration of independence from Great Britain on 2 July, 1776, is much more important, but no one celebrates that important date. Yes, the declaration was authorized by three men on the 4th so it could be printed, but 'the actual signing of the document would not take place until Friday, August 2' (John Adams, David McCullough, 2001)(No celebration.), with the last signature applied in January 1777. (There is some question as to the date of Mr. Thomas McKean's signing the document.) He also asks why 3 September, 1783 (The Paris Peace Treaty of 1783) is not celebrated with even more vigor. That is the date the colonies officially became independent. (The first public celebration was held on 8 July, 1776.) Well, if people want to celebrate my human's retirement in this manner, so be it. To my human, HAPPY RETIREMENT!

*Did you know that the citizens of every country from Canada to Chile are Americans? Yup. If they live in the West Indies, North, Central or South America, they are an American. Just the facts.

P.S. As you can tell, my male human is a literal, sometimes scientific human, and it drives Mom and me crazy!!! Arrrrrrrrrrr!!

I'm with your human on all of that. Humans forget the reasons they do things and they just fall into these patterns! If they only knew how silly they are.

And Sept 3rd should be celebrated outright, but humans seldom celebrate peace treaty anniversaries. It's all about war, war, war. Sometimes I think they are worse than that territorial golden retriever down the block - where he goes he thinks he owns the place and tries to attack other dogs. Anyway, I better stop before I get into a speech about humans and wars again. (sigh) Guess they'll never settle on which country is alpha, always a new challenger . . .

We should celebrate every day. I think a great way to celebrate would be for everyone to give ME cookies. Who needs parades, although it is amusing to watch humans do that.

It's nice to be retired. Dey changed the parade route in our town. it use too end at our house. Dat vas nice cause about a hundred people are in our yard......nice to catch up with friends and such and den dis year they changed the route. Vhy? Because ve live across from da hospital and dey can't secure it vith da parade and all. it's a soft target for terrorists i guess. So now ve have to go 3 blocks over.

A parade of golf carts? Nice but my human started laughing hysterically when she looked at the photos. She thinks you ard your humans have a pretty good life...the parade even comes to you. Your human is a stickler for details that's obvious. It seems to be hard work to be a human.

Another thing that amazes my human (not me so much, I could care . . .) is that Alexander von Humboldt is probably the greatest explorer of all time but is relatively unknown due to the fact that he explored SOUTH America instead of North America.

Unfortunately the humans that live in this territory seem rather egocentric. Hey, we all know a dog is a dog no matter where it lives. Our territories expand and shrink depending on who peed there last. We sniff each others privates and carry on. Too bad humans can't act like dogs. Would solve a lot of problems.
