Wow! My typist's family is vacationing in Cannon Beach, Oregon right now. Tule's dad called my dad about the earthquake and tsunami warning. Dad called his parents. By the time he had contacted them they were already twenty miles inland. Apparently the hotel where they are staying is only 15 feet above sea level. Everyone below 41 feet was told to head inland, fast. While Dad was talking to his family, the tsunami warning was canceled. The emergency personnel they were talking to turned around and headed back to the coast. Guess that is a good sign.
Whew. Everyone is okay. Hope things settle down, cuz Mom and Dad and Tule's parents are going to Cannon Beach this weekend to surprise 'Grandma' on her 80th birthday. I know Cannon Beach is famous for Rogue or Freak waves - (Wikipedia). Hope they don't turn their backs to the sea.

I saw a TV documentary recently (can't remember the name but hey I am getting old [excuse]), they said the original Native American name for Crescent City translated something like "big waves come here". I was going to retire there but now I am reconsidering.
