You may remember that I told you about my mom's brother who lived and worked in New Orleans. He, his wife and their dog, Goblin, happened to be visiting their son in Austin when Katrina hit. Then they went on to Houston to visit their daughter and her dog, Caesar. The brother's office new was set up down in Clear Lake, TX. A sidebone-We found out that Mom's brother had dinner with Mayor Nagin several days before Katrina visited the Cresent City. He said the mayor appeared to be a very smart human.
To continue. With Rita planning to visit Houston, Goblin and the brother's wife went to Denver to watch Rita on the magic box. The brother's office was again evacuated, but he remained in Houston to take care of Caesar while the daughter, who works at the Texas Children's Hospital, volunteered to stay at the little humans hospital during the big storm. Everybody is okay now. The brother had already taken his morning run today when Mom talked to him. People who stayed in Houston are very upset with the media because all they focus on is the bad news. My typist says that is sooo true. I ask, "Then, why watch the news?"
My typist found an article that seems very apropos at this time. It is some important information a human can enter into that plastic thing that is connected to a human's ear and makes ringing and human sounds once in a while. Oh, a cell phone, my typist informs me. If your human is in an accident or something like that the emergency people can look under ICE on the Names list and know who to contact, In Case of Emergency. Dad even put a note in there that I am home alone and may need care. Thanks, Dad! Check out the following sites to learn more about it. It is free and could save you.
ICE - In Case of Emergency(Old site)
ICEÙ - In Case of Emergency
Dad did put his money where his mouth is and ordered some "Be Kind" collars for me and Tule and some bracelets that he and Mom can wear and then some extra money, too. He said it would NOT come out of my allowance. Cooool!
