Mom just left for a training session in Redding. I don't like that. She had just gotten back from two day's of training in Fremont. I sure miss her. The number of tummy rubs is cut in half just like that! Again!
Yesterday and today have been rest days for my male human. He hurt his back Wednesday cleaning windows. He is still hurting today. The meds he takes make him sleepy so our walks are kind of slow. Luckily I haven't had to drag him home, yet. So this is what we did for much of the past two days.
Oh, his achin' back. I'm playing nurse.
!!WARNING!! I don't want to freak anyone out, so maybe your human should read the following and then decide if you should have access. CANINES STOP HERE! We received some bad news yesterday. A friend had gone on a trip and left her Irish setter, Clementine, at a kennel. She got home to find that Clem had died. She was only eight. I did not know Clem, but my humans said she was a beautiful dog and a lovely companion. It makes me very sad. Now I'm frightened about going back to my kennel. I know I will have to go in May. My TLOs are going on a business trip. Well, I've got a couple of months to get my courage back. And after that they are thinking about going to Hawaii. Great! I don't know about this kennel stuff. Cal, did your humans send any pictures to my humans? It looks too inviting. SAFE ZONE FOLLOWS.
We saw a new bird at Watson Hollow and in our backyard. It is a Black Phoebe. A handsome bird. We like to see new birds. Some day we are going to look through our guide books and make a list of all the birds we have seen. I guess it is called a life list.

Hi Freda,
I think I have a solution - - you should go with them. They can do their business, you can do your business, you can all come home! K?

Hi Freda,
I know what it's like to have a hurt human. My human just got better from something similar and still sometimes there are days when he rests instead of takes me on walks and stuff.
But eventually he gets back to normal and I get more adventures.
On the kennel thing, I don't know much about those, but I know some are nice and some are maybe not so much fun. This is the first time I've been away from my humans so long but they brought me to the Collie Ranch where I was born. I had to stay in my own kennel for the first two days but now I get to run with the rest of the males. The females are in heat so they are separated from us. The guys just told me what that is and I am learning a lot more than my humans probably want me to know at this point.
Maybe your humans could find you a doggie ranch where you could play with nice dogs during the day and sleep in your own kennel at night or something. That way you get to go on vacation when they do!
Oh on the Phoebe thing, in the summer in northern Wisconsin we hear Eastern Phoebes all the time right outside the window at sunrise and they can be extremely LOUD. My humans sometimes wake up all cranky and have to have three cups of coffee to set things right.
Cal
Thanks Charlie and Cal,
I think I may have talked them into taking me on more short trips once Mom isn't so busy. I want to go back to the ocean again. Maybe I won't be so leary of all that water. It tastes funny too. I think if I can go on a few more trips that I will be okay with the kennel thing. I do like my present kennel. I always get excited when I go there.
My dad use to be a bird keeper at the zoo so we really get excited about sighting new species. I'm not a retriever so I just sit and watch those little meals with wings. I'm not saying that retriever eat birds, but they sure look delicious. Hmm... I would probably spit out the feathers... Hmm...
