Good news for us dogs. They (scientists-smart humans, so I'm told) have found the canine gene for epilepsy. Future generations may not have to suffer through this disease and its treatment.
Please see the following article, BBC NEWS | Epilepsy gene identified in dogs:
"Owners usually start to notice a problem with their pets when they are about six years old. Although incurable, the disease can be managed with a controlled diet and drugs."
There appears to be some human confusion as to how to convert our doggie age into comparable human age. Why anyone would want to do that I don't know. We dogs know old we are* and how old our humans are. But anyway, I asked my typist to look for some canine age charts and he found several sites that will either help or add to the confusion: Dog Years, Maxie Beagle - Dog Years and Online Conversion - Dog Years Calculator.
*Actually, I don't know how old I am. More on that next time.
