Tule's dad gave my dad the 'John Lennon 25 Years Later' glossy magazine thinkin' he might like it. Well, he loves it! It reminded him of another magazine cover that was published about this time of year many years ago and another published just three years ago. My dad then asked to buy some space on my blog. After some thought and enough bribes I broke down and said yes, but only if he left politics out of it. He said it mentioned a politician or two, dependin' on what one considers a politician, but he would not discuss the 'P' topic. It's kinda of mushy, but here it is:
This time of year brings good thoughts to many people around the globe. Being me, I think about three public figures that meant and still mean much to me. John, John and George. Its been 42 years since President Kennedy was killed,
25 years since John Lennon was killed
and three years since George Harrison died.
22 November to 8 December. 17 days. I think a lot about what they did for a lot of people and what they meant to so many. Some think for the better and others not so. I feel thankful I shared some time with them on this small revolving orb.

"We in this country, in this generation, are -- by destiny rather than choice -- the watchmen on the walls of world freedom. We ask, therefore that we may be worthy of our strength with wisdom and restraint, and that we may achieve in our time the ancient vision of 'peace on earth, good will toward men.' That must always be our goal, and the righteousness of our cause must always underlie our strength. For as was written long ago: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain"
- Remarks prepared for delivery by JFK at the Trade Mart in
Dallas, Texas, November 22, 1963
Hey Sam,
My dad thanks you for the unheard remarks. He says so much of what JFK thought and said so long ago still rings true. Too bad those in power today have not the courage to do the right thing in some many different arenas of importance. Character has lost its face.
Woof!
